Electric appliances
Benefits
Compared to fossil-fuel alternative, electric appliances have many benefits
Financial benefits
- Higher Energy Efficiency
- Lower Operating Costs
- Government offers tax credits and rebates
- Local utility companies offer rebates
Health and safety advantages
- No indoor emissions like carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide
- Improved air quality, lowering the risk of asthma and respiratory issues
- Reduced Fire Hazards, removing the risk of explosive gas leaks in the home
- Induction cooktops heat only the cookware, keeping the kitchen cooler and safer to touch
Performance and convenience
- Induction stoves offer instant, precise tempurature control matching gas performance
- Electric appliances feature advanced scheduling, remote monitoring, and automation
- Electric mini-split systems allow customized temperatures for individual rooms
- Electric systems have fewer moving parts, leading to longer lifespans
Heat Pump heater + A/C
- The very quiet Heat Pump sits in the backyard, and the silent Air Handler sits in the attic.
- This upgrade frees up the gas furnance closet.
- We converted our gas furnace closet into a small pantry.
- Running our Heat Pump system Nov-Feb uses a lot of electricity but costs about half of our previous Nov-Feb gas bills + electric bills.
Electric water heater
- We had to replace our 10-gauge wire with 8-gauge to support the added load.
- Our 30-gallon heater is enough for 3 adults + 1 child, but we will get a 40-gallon tank next time since those are more efficient and cheaper to operate.
Inductive stove
- Ours heats up instantly and cools down very fast when we’re done.
- Low heat dissipates in a few seconds while high heat dissipates in 1-2 minutes.
- Can use any material pan, but non-magnetic ones cook slower, such as:
- aluminum
- ceramic
- copper
- glass
- Pyrex
